All patients visiting our clinic are required to complete the Patient Screening Form before their visit.
During this time of Covid-19 and the vast amount of uncertainty that surrounds it, your visit to the dental office should be one of the last things to worry about. We know emergencies can happen at any time and the best way to prevent an unexpected dental issue from occurring is to keep your scheduled hygiene appointments and dental check-ups.
Many people however, are concerned about their safety in public places during this time and that includes dental visits. Here at Credit River Dental in Mississauga we understand this and we are taking Covid-19 very seriously. Your safety as well as the safety of our staff is our top priority and Credit River Dental has made a number of changes to an already safe environment in terms of office protocol as well as physical changes to address these infection control concerns. Our dental college’s guidelines gave us a general reference point in which to start our safety protocol and we have gone beyond these measures to ensure you and your family’s safety are maintained. This allows us to focus on providing you with the high quality of dental treatment you have come to expect. Some of the changes you will notice when you call and visit our office include the following:
When you call Credit River Dental to schedule an appointment, our patient coordinator will ask you a number of pre-screening questions related to Covid-19.
When you arrive at Credit River Dental for your appointment, call our office and you will be screened a second time and we will let you know when it is time to come in for your appointment as we are limiting the number of patients in our office at any one time. Upon entry to our office, your temperature will be taken prior to being seated. If for any reason there are concerns during your screening or your body temperature registers high (above 37.9 degrees) we may elect to reschedule your appointment.
Upon entry to Credit River Dental, after hand sanitizing, the first thing you will notice is that we have installed a plexiglass partition between you and our front desk coordinator to minimize the amount of aerosol contact during your interaction.
Once inside the treatment room, you will notice that we have added air purifiers in order to increase the air exchange rate within the room. For the past 9 years we have always maintained a hospital grade air purifier and have now added 2 more.
Prior to your appointment, you will then be asked to rinse with a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution for 60 seconds in order to reduce the microbial load in the oral cavity.
Doors have been added to each of our operatories in order to improve the efficiency of these air purifiers so that the air exchange is happening at a faster rate in a smaller space.
Our clinical attire includes disposable gowns, masks and face shields as an added level of protection.
After every patient appointment, the operatory is fogged with a hypochlorous acid based solution which has both antimicrobial as well as antioxidant properties. Hypochlorous acid is used as a hospital grade disinfectant.
After your appointment, you will then be directed when it is appropriate to leave, in order to minimize any potential contact with other patients in the office.
With these new safety measures we have put in place in addition to already stringent infection control protocol, we hope to alleviate any worries or concerns you might have regarding your next visit to Credit River Dental Centre. These recommendations are based in science and are actually over and above what has been recommended by our college guidelines as well as the CDC. We look forward to seeing you soon and we hope you are staying safe!
